Hire Kit Hardware

As listed in the  Benefits  page, there are two types of hardware at Nebulab:
  •  Hire kit 
  •  Remote Working Bonus 
While the RWB is a one-and-done effort, the hire kit (specifically the computer) is renewed every once in a while according to employee need.

Ownership

The company goods present in the hire kit, such as laptop, Incase sleeve, keyboard, mouse, webcam, headphones, and monitor, are property of Nebulab.
If the employment contract is terminated before 2 years from the start date, the team member must return the entire kit. Nebulab will pay the cost of the shipping.
If the employment contract is terminated after 2 years, the team member can keep the following goods free of charge: mouse, keyboard, and headphones. The remaining goods must be returned to the company.
In any case, the team member has the option to purchase their hire kit from Nebulab at the current market value.

Malfunctions

If your hire kit malfunctions due to defects or damage, you should promptly contact @endriu to find the best solution.

Laptop Repair

If your laptop is broken and needs to be repaired, you can take it to an Apple repair store. You should ensure that you have a recent backup before doing so.
Also, you should have insurance, so there are no extra costs.
If the repair will take longer than a day and you need a loaner laptop, request it to @endriu as soon as possible, and we will ship it in one week.

Other hire kit's items

The other items don't have any insurance. You'll keep them until their life cycle ends. If you need to change them for any reason (loss, broken, etc.), we will buy them for you just once during the entire period.

Returning Old/Offboarded Laptops

Laptop

We chose to have the best performance laptop every 2 years, for this reason when this circle finished we have to return the laptops and buy the new ones.
Part of the replacement laptop process is providing each team member with instructions about returning their old laptop (whether outdated or broken).
All laptops must be returned within 2 weeks of receiving the replacement laptop, so please prioritize transferring information between laptops within this timeframe.
All team member laptops must be securely erased before being returned. This not only protects the company but also protects you since it is possible for personal information to exist on these machines.

How to properly reset your laptop

Apple strict security requires you to properly reset your laptop to allow it to be properly re-used (we should try to contribute as much as possible to reduce e-waste).

Insurance

For EU resident employee

By EU residents, we mean all team members living in the European Union. We exclude, eg. UK, Albania, Serbia, and so on.

Laptop

The laptop will be insured directly by Nebulab. However, you should promptly report any loss or damage to your manager or @endriu as soon as it occurs.
The insurance coverage includes:
  • all hardware and software malfunctions;
  • loss or theft;
  • one accidental damage per year.
All issues listed above are entirely covered without a deductible.

Other hire kit's items

The other items don't have any insurance. You'll keep them until their life cycle ends. If you need to change them for any reason (loss, broken, etc.), we will buy them for you just once during the entire period.

For Non-EU resident employee

Laptop

It's currently not possible to take out insurance outside the EU.
For loss, theft, or other damages, a budget of up to $ 150/year will be available to cover the laptop. You can proceed directly to the insurance purchase. Hereafter, it will be possible to put this cost in your invoice, and we will refund it.
If possible, we recommend you to take out insurance that has the following coverages without deductible:
  • accidental damage;
  • loss or theft;
  • hardware and software malfunctions.
Don't forget to ensure your laptop. If you don't, remember that you will be responsible for any damage. However, you should promptly report any issue to your manager or @endriu as soon as it occurs.

Other hire kit's items

The other items don't have any insurance. You'll keep them until their life cycle ends. If you need to change them for any reason (loss, broken, etc.), we will buy them for you just once during the entire period.

Ordering info

Right after the team members hire, we'll send them an email with the hire kit, where the new hire can personalize their gear.
Nebulab can provide the entire hire kit directly in the following countries: USA, Canada, Japan, all of the EU, Kenya, South Africa, and Morocco.
For all the other countries, you might be required to buy the hardware on your own or just help us figure out how we can handle a direct purchase.
If we can't make it, you'll receive the funds from Nebulab to complete the hire kit purchase and buy it on your own.
Suppose we will need you to buy some items directly. In that case, you should send an invoice to Nebulab reporting your name/company (we won't be able to accept the supplier's receipt like Apple, Amazon, and so on) and the cost you spent. It is required due to tax regulations that we need to comply with to be able to deduct the cost from our revenues.
At the moment, we know we can't directly purchase laptops in these countries: Brazil, India, Philippines, and Nicaragua.

Delivery time

Current Delivery Timelines for Nebulab hire kit:
  • US/EU: laptop 3 months; all the rest 5-10 days
  • Non-US/EU: laptop 4 months; all the rest 10-20 days
